Happy Hands Classes

Education for a pre-kindergarten age student should encompass many experiences. Our learning will utilize music, arts, and literature. At Happy Hands we will sing, play, paint, color, read, and learn sign language. Class size will stay small (10 children max) to ensure I can give more one on one attention to each child.

We ask that the children be 3 1/2 or 4 years old and completely potty trained to attend class.

Tuition

** Tuition is $65.00 monthly, due by the 5th of each month. There will be a $25.00 start up fee at the start of each semester to cover snacks and crafts.

** Our class schedule will follow the calendar of Safford Public Schools. The tuition will remain the same each month as long as we follow the Safford School's schedule. If I shorten the month due to my own illness or some other need, I will reduce the tuition for that month. If your child is ill or you are out of town, I will be happy to send home worksheets or activities to help your child stay current with the class, but tuition will not be reduced.

Class Hours

CLASS WILL START AUGUST 17TH
(week after Safford School starts)

Classes will be held Tuesdays and Wednesdays from
9:00am t0 12:00pm.

Classes will be held in my home, on Doyle Cluff Parkway, out across the river.

Helping Your Child Grow

My goal is to help each child be ready for the kindergarten experience. Readiness is not only knowing their ABC's or numbers, it includes being excited to learn and being able to handle new learning situations. I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year.

Letter P

This was one of my favorite letters. We had a Pirate Picnic. Pirate Pete had hid a picnic lunch for us and we had to follow our map to find it. (this is the kids making a pirate treasure map)

We looked high and low for clues...

We finally found the pirate ship covered in pirate flags and inside was ...

A PIRATE PICNIC !!! Pirate Pete had left us Punch, Peanut butter sandwiches, Potato chips

and gold coins. We had so much fun searching for the loot and eating our Pirate Picnic. We even took the ship out to sea after lunch :) Kids have the best imaginations....

Letter M

In May we learned about the letter M. What better way then a M&M graft. The kids had to sort out the different colors and count to see who had the most of each color. It was a yummy way to learn! We also did a Mother's Day craft. Making a pot full of beautiful and yummy flowers for mom.

Letter O

Learning about the Ocean was fun. We learned alot about Ollie the Octopus. Did you know an octopus has 3 hearts, or that they have blue blood. The octopus can change its color to blend in with its surroundings. They have 8 legs, the legs can re-grow if one is harmed. The Giant Octopus can lay up to 100,000 eggs! The octopus is very interesting but we decided it would not make a very good pet.

The DINO Dig

Letter D was a BIG hit as we learned about dinosaurs!! Each student made a Name-o-saurs. (that's a dinosaur that tells all about you) then we went digging in the sand for some dino fossils. Who knew dinosaurs use to live in Safford?? the kids loved digging up the fossils and then matching them to the right dinosaur.

Quilted Q

Just a fun craft we did with the letter Q. We made quilted Q by gluing fabric on the letter Q with Q-tips. We also went on a quest for the Queen! What brave knights I have.

Shape Carnival

We had a ball at the shape carnival. We made clown faces out of shapes and even had a real clown come and show us some tricks. ( My husband Matthew is the best, the kids LOVED him- look at the smiles :) The kids were given tickets to play 3 different shape games. With the tickets they won they could get their face painted, and get snacks. We had so much fun learning about shapes together.

L is for LUCK!

This was so much fun. We were learning about the letter L and it was just before St. Patrick's Day. As a class we decided to catch a Leprechaun. We made a trap for him and put out some gold. While we were outside playing Lem the Lucky Leprechaun came into our room and made a mess! We didn't catch him but he did leave some goodies for us. I hope we have better luck next year!

Police Officer Eric

We are learnig about the letter P. Police Officer Eric came to our school and taught us all about the diffrent jobs police men have. We even learned that girls can be a police officer. He let us go out and look at his cool police car.The kids really enjoyed meeting a real police man and keep asking when he is going to come back.

V is for Valentine!

We had a LOVELY Valentines Day Party! We made some valentine bags to hold our valentines in. Talley brought cookies for everyone to decorate! (Thanks Talley) They loved the pink frosting and heart sprinkles! I have some pretty talented bakers in my class. Then we lined up our chairs to do our valentine card exchange. I just LOVE my class, they are all so sweet and thoughtful!!

All About ME!!!!!

We traced outlines of each student on white paper. Then they got to color in their face and clothes. We also learned what every ones name meant and how their parents decided to name them. I let the children look in magazines and cut out things they liked and we glued them on their posters. They did an AMAZING job and I loved learning more about them! We hung the posters in the room so we could admire our art!

I THINK I CAN!!!

Self Esteem is so important for young children! We read the book The Little Engine That Could. We talked about how we should always try our best and keep saying "I Think I Can!" I was so proud of them for doing such a great job putting their candy train together!

S is for Space, Stars and Sun

We learned that the Astronauts eat all their meals by sucking them out of little baggies. The kids thought this was a cool, fun way to eat snacks.
"You Are My Sunshine" sun. We used all the kids hand prints to make the rays on the sun. They liked seeing all their friends hands on the sun we called it a friend sun.

Here is Doyle and Talley making there Shape Space Ships. Later we got rockets (balloons) and had a "blast" doing our count down from 10 to BLAST-OFF! Some of the rockets really took off!

Z is for Zoo

We had so much fun learning about the letter Z. We painted zebra stripes on the letter Z and put some zoo animal stickers on it too. We learned about all the different kinds of animals there are and about the Zookeeper who takes care of them. It was winter so we also learned about animals that hibernate. The children wore their PJ's to school and brought a teddy bear. We had fun finding out who had the biggest, smallest, tallest, roundest and softest bear. We decided as a class that we should be more like bears and curl up and sleep for the winter!
